Martin Engineering Background

Martin Engineering is a B2B supplier of materials handling products and services to the mining, construction, and transportation industries.

Martin Engineering had an inefficient web technology platform utilizing both Drupal and Magento; whereby each of the company’s 12 regions had its own independently maintained instance of both technologies. Furthermore, the company had limited flexibility for publishing new multimedia content and was not able to complete transactions online.

Multi-lingual, fully localized B2B eCommerce site serving 11 different global regions from a single Drupal Commerce instance.

Approach

Digital Bridge Solutions implemented Drupal Commerce to satisfy all content and commerce requirements with one code base. Payment “on account”, parent/child relationships between users and companies, and specialized customer pricing are just a few of the B2B commerce features implemented. Drupal Commerce was integrated with Smartling’s online translation service to support content translation and catalog localization worldwide.

Results

The company is now able to support all 12 global regions through a centrally managed instance of Drupal Commerce. Content from the main US site is translated and served to the 11 regional “proxy” sites via integration with the Smartling Global Delivery Network translation service. Marketing managers are able to create localized product assortments and determine which products can be purchased online vs. channeled through a sales rep via “request a quote” functionality.
